Michael Wilson: Photographs From and For…

Heads Bowed, Eyes Closed, No One Looking Around

April 24-August 7, 2009

Michael Wilson is a Cincinnati-based photographer whose photographs grace CDs by David Byrne, Emmylou Harris, B.B. King, Lyle Lovett, Over-the-Rhine and Toad the Wet Sprocket, to name a few. The photographs he is showing at Iris Book Cafe were made for his first, self-published book, Heads Bowed Eyes Closed, No One Looking Around (What Reindeer, 1984) and have not been exhibited previously. Though no famous musicians appear in the pictures, there is a music to the book. Urban landscapes, houses, telephone poles, lights in their night pepper its pages, often slippery, slightly askew personal reflections, each recording as much a feeling as a specific place. Wilson works almost exlusively in black and white and prefers making small, silver prints.
